His commentary on the Jodi Arias murder trial has been succinct and surprising. If you’ve been watching for hours on HLN, Abrams’ next-day commentary on ABC is always worth a listen.
On Friday, he didn’t have to put up with bickering from HLN’s Nancy Grace. The topic: Abrams evaluated Arias’ crumbling on the stand Thursday when questioned about killing former boyfriend Travis Alexander.
Abrams repeated his view that Arias is “a good witness with horrible facts” and added that Arias was crying at the right time. “That Jodi Arias is a good witness, in my view, is not going to land her a not guilty verdict,” Abrams said.
And yet …
Abrams said that prosecutor Juan Martinez was being aggressive at the right time but that pugnacious style earlier in the trial could be costly. Abrams cautioned: “The last thing you want is one or two jurors maybe feeling sorry for her and as a result possibly pushing for a lesser conviction. … The last thing prosecutors want in this case is a hung jury.”
